At PeakBody, we exclusively offer CoolSculpting, which is why we’re known as Westchester’s premier CoolSculpting spa. That means we’ve spent lots of time freezing fat off men and women, and we’ve heard just about every misconception about it there is. Perhaps the biggest and most upsetting misconception is that CoolSculpting is a way for “overweight” and “lazy” people to “take the easy way out.” Some people even go so far as to say that CoolSculpting is how a “fat person” can “cheat the system.” This is not only untrue, it’s also incredibly offensive. If someone is attempting to improve their life and their attitude with noninvasive, nonsurgical fat reduction, why shame them for it? But perhaps the biggest issue is that these rude generalizations are a fallacy. Reality is, most people who seek CoolSculpting are already active and are trying to get rid of diet and exercise resistant fat – that’s the type of fat that doesn’t respond to healthy eating or exercise. In fact, CoolSculpting is a great compliment to an already active, fit lifestyle. Our clients are often men and women who have specific bulges of stubborn fat, but otherwise lead healthy, active lives. When clients come to us, they’re generally frustrated with these “trouble spots” and have put some effort into getting rid of the stubborn fat, but to no avail. Let’s dive into more about freezing fat and how it’s done.
What is “Fat Freezing” and How Does it Work?
CoolSculpting is based on the science of cryolipolysis, which is another name for fat freezing. Let’s break it down: Cryo means cold. Lipolysis is the decomposition of fat. With CoolSculpting we’re talking about subcutaneous fat, which is the fat underneath the skin that can be pinched. That’s how we’re left with the term, “fat freezing,” which is a method for breaking down fat by using cool temperatures. The history of CoolSculpting begins with two Harvard University scientists who realized the connection between fat and cold temperatures, however, doctors, scientists and others in the medical field were aware of this connection before the technology was introduced in 2008 – the Harvard scientists were just the first to apply the idea.
The scientists, Dr. Rox Anderson and Dr. Dieter Manstein, were affiliated with the Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. They took a closer look and realized that fat doesn’t like the cold and that fat cells crystallize and die when they’re frozen. So, they took their idea and created CoolSculpting technology. Of course, freezing fat takes more than spraying yourself with freezing cold water or dunking your body into an ice bath, it takes skill and precision. Freezing fat off properly requires harnessed technology and controlled applicators that deliver the proper amount of targeted cooling so that fat is blasted away and then excreted from the body naturally over time. When the Harvard University scientists developed the first CoolSculpting applicator, they likely had no idea the impact this technology would have on the world. Since its inception, CoolSculpting technology has been used all over the planet by millions of people. In the US, FDA clearance came in 2010.
Who Gets the Best CoolSculpting Results?
Healthy and Active Men and Women!
Now, let’s get back to the misconceptions surrounding CoolSculpting. People think that because CoolSculpting can literally freeze fat away, it’s a weight loss tool for people who are otherwise inactive. This simply isn’t true. CoolSculpting is beneficial for people who have tried (in vain) to get rid of stubborn, diet and exercise resistant fat that doesn’t seem to budge. By definition, diet and exercise resistant fat remains on the body despite all of the hard work you put into your appearance. CoolSculpting clients are men and women who are near their ideal weight. We find that our clients are usually self-conscious about one particular zone on the body. Perhaps it’s the love handles or a double chin. Maybe it’s underneath the arms or the thighs. Whatever the zone, our clients have an overall goal to make that unsightly fat go away. CoolSculpting helps make that possible. Years ago, the only option for fat removal was liposuction, which is an invasive, surgical method. Now that CoolSculpting is here, clients can go into an office for a session and go back to life as normal directly after. What the client is left with is a slimmer and more contoured look. This is especially so when clients commit to remain fit after the treatment is completed – because CoolSculpting works best in conjunction with healthy eating and exercise. Also, once the fat is removed from the body it can’t come back. It is removed permanently. In other words, if you continue to eat right and exercise, the fat won’t grow back. You’ll remain slimmer and more contoured.
In Conclusion: CoolSculpting is Great for your FIT Lifestyle!
If you really want to maximize confidence and “get back out there,” why not think about the possibilities of CoolSculpting? We like to think of CoolSculpting as a secret weapon. Add it to your arsenal to get back your confidence and get maximum results. For most of us, there is a zone on our bodies we could target with CoolSculpting to make us feel happier and more confident. Dieting and exercising without results is agonizing AND it’s detrimental to your mental health. If you’re working hard day after day and not seeing any results, it can be a real confidence killer. CoolSculpting gives back confidence and it shows you that some fat pockets on the body are just there. Whether it’s genetics or aging, these are things that happen to all of us. As we get older our hormones change and our metabolism decreases – this is how it is. It’s not your fault – but there is a technology that can help – CoolSculpting.
Again, as we’ve stated throughout this article, CoolSculpting is excellent for those that are already active and healthy. The ideal candidate is someone that’s within their ideal weight. CoolSculpting is an excellent complement to an already active lifestyle. So, let us know if you think CoolSculpting is for you.
