What’s the Difference: CoolSculpting vs. TruSculpt

As adults, our struggle with unwanted body fat becomes more than just a struggle – it becomes an outright battle. Even if we eat healthy and exercise, those stubborn fat pockets never seem to go away. Even if we’ve reached our goal weight, belly bulge still appears. But that’s no surprise because diet and exercise resistant fat will ALWAYS be resistant to healthy eating and exercise. As we get older, our bodies especially adhere to that rule.

That’s why noninvasive body contouring treatments are on the rise. Two popular treatments are CoolSculpting and truSculpt. If eliminating stubborn fat is what you want to do, you may have already researched these treatments. In this article we’re going to explore them more. Keep reading to find out which treatment meets your needs best.

How are they similar: CoolSculpting vs. TruSculpt

CoolSculpting and truSculpt have a lot in common, like the fact that they’re both noninvasive procedures that don’t require an incision, anesthesia, or a lengthy downtime. Also, in both cases, the fat is removed permanently – once those stubborn fat cells are gone they’re gone for good! Perhaps the most important similarity is that both of these procedures are FDA-approved. They were also both deemed by the FDA to be effective noninvasive body contouring procedures.

How are they different: CoolSculpting vs. TruSculpt

With the similarities laid out, there are also a number of differences between these two procedures. Namely that CoolSculpting uses extreme cold, and the process of cryolipolysis, otherwise known as fat freezing, in order to remove fat. truSculpt, on the other hand, uses heat and radiofrequency to get rid of stubborn fat. There’s also a difference in the length of time some patients take to see results. With CoolSculpting, results are reported by most clients in a month following the procedure, and clients continue to see results up until the three month mark. According to truSculpt’s website, some clients see results as soon as the first session and they continue to see results up to the three month mark. In other words, it takes the same amount of time to see the full results, but truSculpt’s results start a little earlier.

The Basics of CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting was first developed by Harvard University researchers in 2010, when they made the determination that fat freezes at a lower temperature than other tissues in the body. This makes it so fat can be killed and eliminated with CoolSculpting while the surrounding skin and tissue remains unharmed. The process by which fat cells are frozen is called cryolipolysis, which means fat freezing. Once the fat cells are frozen and killed they are naturally excreted from the body. The best part is, once those stubborn fat cells are gone, they’re gone forever. CoolSculpting is noninvasive and nonsurgical, meaning that this entire process is accomplished without surgery. Better yet, CoolSculpting comes without any of the downtime that surgery requires.

CoolSculpting is known worldwide as the #1 noninvasive body contouring treatment that eliminates fat cells forever. So how does it work? CoolSculpting works by applying a vacuum applicator to a targeted fat area. The applicator applies very low temperatures to the targeted fat zones and then controlled cooling freezes the fat cells and allows them to die off. We’ve said it before, but once those stubborn fat cells are dead they’re dead forever.

The Basics of TruSculpt

TruSculpt works similar to CoolSculpting, but instead of cold temperatures and controlled cooling, heat is used. With TruSculpt a special applicator is used to emit radiofrequency energy which then heats the fat layers located below the skin. At this point the TruSculpt process is not finished. Not only is fat eliminated, but the skin in the target area is also tightened. TruSculpt providers say that the higher temperatures, achieved by radiofrequency, are what stimulates the skin and encourages the production of collagen.

In conclusion, why is CoolSculpting better than TruSculpt?

  • CoolSculpting has been around for a lot longer, while TruSculpt is a relatively new player on the field. In other words, CoolSculpting is a trusted source and a trusted fat blasting technology, not only in the US, but everywhere in the world.
  • CoolSculpting is quick and easy. Some patients decide to go for one treatment, some opt for more. On the other hand, truSculpt is known as a procedure that requires repeated treatments in order to see desired results.
