CoolSculpting and Venus Freeze are two different noninvasive, nonsurgical body sculpting technologies that yield different results. Both methods are for contouring the body without the use of surgery, but CoolSculpting eliminates fat while Venus Freeze tightens the skin. The truth is, there are an abundance of noninvasive fat reduction methods on the market today, and it can be confusing to know which treatment will work for each individual patient. Because these procedures are similar but different they are a great example of needing to know which treatment will work for you. To figure this out you’ll need to ask yourself the following question: “Do I want to reduce fat? Or do I want to tighten my skin?” In this article we’ll compare and contrast CoolSculpting and Venus Freeze. We hope at the end you have a better understanding of what they are and how they can help you.
Basics of CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting uses cool temperatures to attack and destroy pesky fat cells. During a CoolSculpting treatment, fat is suctioned into a special handpiece for up to an hour and blasted with cool temperatures, which cause the fat cells to die. The fat gets absorbed into the body and leaves the body naturally over the next few months. An important component of CoolSculpting is a process called cryolipolysis, a process whereby fat cells are destroyed when they’re blasted with temperatures that are just above freezing. None of the surrounding skin or tissue is harmed during the procedure, and that’s because fat freezes at a lower temperature than other tissues on the body – this is the principle that CoolSculpting is based on.
Basics of Venus Freeze
Even though the name implies the use of cool temperatures or freezing, Venus Freeze actually does not use cold. No cold temperature is used at all during the procedure. Instead, Venus Freeze uses the energy from radio frequency to deliver heat to fatty tissue, while protecting the surrounding skin. Here’s what happens during the procedure: fat, tissue and collagen are heated over a period of 10 to 15 minutes in order to produce a contraction or tightening of the collagen beneath the skin. Afterwards, the skin has a more tightened and youthful appearance. It can be used on any area in the body. Providers say that the area that gets targeted should have some laxity and it should be an area that the patient wants to get tightened. The most common areas providers tighten are the face, neck, arms, abdomen and thighs. It’s usually recommended that a few treatments are done in order to get the best possible results.
CoolSculpting vs Venus Freeze: Which is Which?
Some providers say these technologies get confused with one another. In other words, some people come in talking about Venus Freeze, but they’re actually talking about CoolSculpting, and vice versa. But here we’ll bust all of those false realities and we’ll figure out which is a fat reduction method and which is a skin tightening method. The biggest difference between these two procedures is that one (CoolSculpting) destroys fat cells and one (Venus Freeze) stimulates collagen and tightens the skin. Some providers say that using these treatments together or in tandem can provide excellent results. In other words, CoolSculpting removes the unwanted fat, then Venus Freeze goes in and tightens the skin. The result would be a slimmer and more tightened and toned body. Another thing that sets them apart is that one (CoolSculpting) uses cool temperatures, while Venus Freeze uses heat and radio frequency – even though the name “Venus Freeze” sounds like it would utilize the power of cool temperatures. That’s how you can tell which is which!
Am I a candidate for CoolSculpting or Venus Freeze?
The biggest thing to keep in mind is what you want the procedure to do for you. If you want to get rid of unwanted fat, you might be a good candidate for CoolSculpting. If you want to tighten skin, you might be a good candidate for Venus Freeze. Candidates for either treatment should be in good health overall. Healthy eating and activity should occur before and after getting the treatment done because that’s what will help keep weight off in the future. You might be a great candidate for either, or both, but the only way to know for sure is by calling a provider and telling them your scenario.
CoolSculpting vs Venus Freeze: Overall
Both of these are excellent treatments that don’t require surgery or the long recovery time associated with it. These are both excellent methods for contouring the body but they work in different ways: CoolSculpting eliminates fat; Venus Freeze tightens skin. Therefore, in the battle of one versus the other, they both end up winners. Why? Because they address different needs on the body. CoolSculpting is hands down our winner for the best noninvasive body fat reduction method because it’s been around the longest and we know the amazing results it can provide. Venus Freeze is very different from CoolSculpting, so we can’t declare either one the overall winner. They both work very differently! Instead we’ll say that these are both excellent treatments in their own unique ways.
